Termite Protection for New Builds & Renovations in Campbelltown

Under the Building Code of Australia, every new dwelling in NSW must have a termite management system installed and certified. Here’s what your Campbelltown builder should be doing.

Under the Building Code of Australia, every new dwelling in NSW (with limited exceptions) must have a termite management system installed and certified to AS 3660.1. Missing or non-compliant systems are one of the most common defects we find on pre-purchase inspections in Menangle Park, Gledswood Hills and Mount Gilead.

The three compliant options

  • Chemical soil barrier — Termidor HE, Altriset or equivalent applied before the slab is poured
  • Physical barrier — Kordon (Bayer), Homeguard blueskin or Termiglass sheet installed at slab edge and around penetrations
  • Combined system — often the most robust, e.g. physical at slab edge plus reticulation for future top-up

What to demand from your builder

  • Copy of the AS 3660.1 termite management certificate before handover
  • Durable notice fixed to the meter box (mandatory)
  • Warranty period and warranty holder clearly documented
  • Photos of the installation before slab pour or backfill
